Walking on the Edge

Depression is no easy feat to live with. {trust me, I know}

Most folks don't even understand it.

Because depression is associated with sadness, many feel the 'cure' is simply to 'cheer up', 'get over it' or 'stop pitying yourself'.

Life can be going absolutely beautiful. You can have the most wonderful evening, go to bed with happy thoughts....

And wake up to 'ugh'.

Nothing has to 'happen' or 'go wrong'.

It doesn't have a 'switch' you can turn on or off.

Truthfully,

It's what others do in this moment that can make it worse or better.

Some have people in their lives that are always there to 'catch you' when you feel like your walking on the edge.

And then there are those that are ready to 'push you' over the edge; and unfortunately these are usually family.

The best thing you can do, is find a way to 'pull yourself' away from the edge. Because more often than not, when you turn around and look for help, there isn't going to be anyone there.

People don't fully understand depression.

 I believe God does.

Sometimes I think our mental illness is due to our disassociation and distance from God.

The Bible speaks of a 'sound mind' for those that are close to God.

Funny, 'professionals' think if you believe in something they can't see or feel, your deemed crazy.

Either way, remember this ~

People fail people.

God never fails us.

The closer you walk with God, the further you get from the cliffs.
