INVISIBLE DISABILITIES

I Had to go to the Doctors today and have another bone density scan.

 Parking was crazy, had to drive around a bit until a disabled spot opened up. You would be amazed at how many people give me dirty looks when I'm getting in or out of my car. I "LOOK" normal. Sometimes I "WALK" normal. Almost all the time " I HURT LIKE HELL, with each step."

I come by my disability benefits rightfully, even though you can't see it.

Underneath it all

It's taken a few years to recover from a couple strokes, a major car accident and a whole lifetime of COPD & PTSD. Not to mention the tendon on my left foot I tore last winter, which has still not healed.

At least

I can proudly say My med's have been cut way back!!!!! I used to be able to fill a plate with the number of pills I was supposed to take everyday.
Now, a recent appointment with the Doctor and we did some serious adjusting and reducing ~ at last ~ it's not too bad!

Spiriva HandiHaler 18 MCG Caps

I inhale for the lungs I have COPD

methocarbamol 750 MG Tabs

Quantity180 Tablets
Day supply30
The pain and spasm's in my back and hips allow me to take them steady.

buPROPion 300 MG Tb24

The ANXIETY which is an ongoing side effect of long term PTSD, but I'm down to 1 pill a day!

NO MORE
  • anti depressants
  • narcotic pain pills
  • secondary pills to protect my stomach from the narcotics
  • secondary anxiety pills

You see, I live with

The probability of ending up in a wheelchair a scooter at the very least.

~~~~~~
If you read the results of My last MRI
Dr.Pxxx has reviewed your results. L5-S1 (transition region between the lumbar spine and sacral spine in the lower back) disc herniation (cushion that sits between the spinal vertebra is pushed outside its normal position) with compression against right S1 nerve root. A referral has been placed to interventional pain management Dr.Gxxx, for a consultation for a possible epidural injection.
~ you can see that the doctors recognize the amount of pain I live with.
Today's Density results
There has been an interval 3.4% decrease in bone mineral density of the lumbar spine and 1.9% decrease in bone mineral density of the left total hip compared to the prior examination under the National Osteoporosis Foundation, the ten-year probability of major osteoporotic fracture (clinical vertebral forearm, hip and shoulder) is 8.9%. The ten-year probability of hip fracture is 1.7%.
~ measure how close I'm getting to the wheel chair.
Until then I walk, I ride and I am grateful for every step I get to take.
I just really wish people would not judge what they don't know. Just because you can't see something, doesn't mean it isn't there. Just like AIR AND GOD, many folks have disabilities YOU CAN'T SEE.
