Here comes the New Year!

 Welcome to a New Year - 2024!
Wow!!

I will be turning 60 this year. Crazy thinking about where all the time has gone.
All the memories, all the peoples and pets.... So many loved ones have already passed on. It's getting to the age of wonder as to 'how many' years one self has left?

Looking back at all that has happened, both good and bad. Thinking about the dreams we once had and how things 'really' turned out. Is this the life you planned? I wonder how many can say, YES, this is what I wanted and how I wanted my life to turn out.

Christmas is the time to remember and think about the past and all the wonderful blessings and miracles one has had in life. The New Year is a time to look forward, to dream, to hope to plan on what you want to accomplish in the coming year.

This is part of why I un=Christmas, the day after Christmas. The house is clean and fresh and ready for a new beginning. Papa had to do most of the work this year, I just kind of packed and pointed. He had to do all the climbing, lifting bending, mopping... I so appreciated the help.

This year my back was in critical pain.... I managed to sit up and hold back the tears while the kids were here. Sadly, I was glad everyone kept the visits short so I could lay back down. I get to see the back doctor in January, and I got to tell you this has been the longest most painful wait ever!!!!!

Papa reminded me of how it seems every Christmas, I have something going wrong to make the holidays a challenge. Wrecking my truck was in December. I've ruptured tendons in my heel in December, had super bad tooth aches, in December..... and now my back...

Thankfully I have a new seating arrangement that helps support my back so I can get some sleep without too much pain.

UPCOMING EVENTS ~

The house goes up for sale in the new year. Things are going to be changing. We have a few ideas for the 'where are you going'? location. We will see which plan works out. A lot of prayer has gone into this one. I do believe God is leading us in the direction that will make life better. For all involved. IF plan A works out, you'll be surprized where we end up!

My Therapist

I've had a couple heart/stroke - related incidents, so a few memories are incomplete as far as specifics. But it's been about 10 years since....

Life hit a rough spot, in many ways. Some of my kids crushed me and broke my heart. Mind you my heart has been breaking for years over one of my children. Then a grandchild added to the pain. When this last series of events happened with some of the others

- it was too much.

I bought 2 horses. They saved me when there were no humans to turn too. The horses brought me back to who I was, rather than being stuck with who I had become.

One has since passed the other still with me. She's been my rock. This will be our   9th Christmas together. Finances are tight so I don't have the gas every day to go see her and bring her lunch. I'm hoping things will get better in the new year.

Technically my therapy costs $300 a month and the insurance doesn't pay for this one. We accept donations to help. I have one sponsor that gives a little every month to help cover her costs. I would love to find a sponsor to cover her farrier appointments. We've had to get a new farrier, since ours has passed {Or at least gone missing}. The bill has went up to $70 every 8-10 weeks.

Sponsors can sign up here

StarBright knows the car when it's coming down the road. The daily connection we have is what keeps me going. She knows me better than any human. I think she understands me better too.

59 Christmas's

Looking back, it's hard to say which was the best or which was the worst. They were all unique and original in their own ways. It's been a hard time of year for me, I've managed to overcome most of the dark and replace it with lighter happier memories.

We decorate Thanksgiving weekend - so I'm ready to take it down the day after Christmas. Once the kids had all the new things, it was time to get ready for the New Year.  So, the day after Christmas was 'make it clean make it fresh.

In with the new and out with the old. I Drove everyone crazy!

We have had to move many times, not something I wanted. Something I had to do, because there was someone causing problems in my life that were life threatening.

My kids never got to feel like they were HOME. Neither did I for that matter. I'm currently looking to move again because of the same threatening situation. It wasn't the life I planned nor was it what I ever wanted. It was what I had to survive and what they had to endure. I always tried to make the best of it. I hope they understand someday, rather than blame me for what life was.

It was always the being together than mattered for me. I never could sleep well when my little ones were out of the house. Holidays were complicated with the divided families and divorce. It was having them with me that brought me joy, and still does to this day.

Being a single mom with 4 was hard. Money was always tight, and we didn't get child support financially, physically or emotionally. So, I was mom, dad, and every other entity that resembled family. We were alone in this country, I only had 1 brother that lived nearby. Never a big happy family holiday, just us and maybe a few friends. We missed out on all 'family events', birthdays, weddings, reunions, we were even excluded from funerals.  Like I said, just us.

Holidays were just us and my roommate. I never minded the years of not getting anything for Christmas, I was happy to see them happy getting the things they wished for. I was grateful for all the help I would receive over the holidays, to be able to provide them with a 'good Christmas'.
A good meal and plenty of toys and clothes.

Remember, I had to buy and make up for an entire family that wasn't doing for them.

They are all grown up now. I've watched as my grandchildren are growing up into fine young adults. My great grandchildren are amazing and seem to grow even faster than children or grandchildren! Thankfully, I have so many photos to sort through, or I might have missed something!

You see,

My tree this year is filled with ceramic ornaments of pictures of the family throughout the years. I bought Amazon out on the round ornaments and had to get the ovals. They are pretty too - but - by next Christmas, there should be about another 40 or so more pictures! Hopefully on the round rather than the ovals.

I've reached the age where many of my friends are losing their mates, spending this Christmas on their own. They were blessed to have someone share the years with them, making memories, living in maybe one or two different places.  Having the big family holidays and celebrations.
This is a hard year for many of us older folks. One of my brothers passed near my birthday this fall. It's the first Christmas without him.

It means something different the older you get. The magic is still there, the joy and the wonderful feeling inside - it doesn't matter how well off or broke we were, and still are. I've loved the magic of Christmas.  Some years were quite painful, others were truly blessed. But the magic, the warmth and the feeling of Christmas was always there Christmas morning.

59 Christmas's ~ All I want is 59 more!

Catch up time.

It's been a bit crazy lately. Papa was supposed to go to Canada and see his mom but his brother-in-law ended up in the hospital, they all had to cancel the trip, so his sister could take care of her family. We cancelled the event this weekend because he was going and ended up at home all weekend.

On the plus side, I got to enjoy my 2 youngest granddaughters for the weekend.  Other than being up all-night last night with one of them not feeling well. At least it's quiet here and she was able to rest. Rain... oh my has it ever been raining! One day it's super cold then the next it's 'not so bad'.... Almost thought it was going to turn into snow the other day, things got a bit slushy for a few minutes.

The idea of getting a puppy for Christmas went downhill with the mountain pass being horrible this year. I don't have snow tires or chains and there have been massive multi car pile ups. Even the big boys have been not handling it well.  Pass has been closed days at a time. So, there is no way for me to get to where the puppy is. Dang it anyway he is soooo freaking cute..

Seems Papa has been having more pains in his left side now since the last procedure. One spot feels better then next starts hurting, poor guy can't get a break. He has more appointments coming up, so hopefully we will find something out soon. He did manage to gain a couple pounds and has so far kept it on. Still have about 30 pounds to go before he reaches what he 'should' weigh.

I'm pretty much done and ready for Christmas!! Ornaments and cups for all the kids. Just need to get the grandkids something now. I don't want to add to the massive clutter they all have in their rooms so I'm trying to find something that isn't a 'thing'. lol This shall be fun! Wish me luck. I hope it doesn't end up being 'gift cards' although, that does seem to be the 'wish'. I think it's so they can buy things in their games? At least it wouldn't add clutter to the rooms.

I'm really exhausted tonight.  Too tired to actually sleep and too tired to think.  So I should probably go find a Christmas movie to watch, maybe I can fall asleep to the TV.  I hope you had a wonderful weekend and may the joy of Christmas fill your house and your heart.

December 2, 2023

December has arrived!!

I honestly don't know how things have gone so well so far other than being blessed by God repeatedly. I felt very blessed and brought tears to my eyes when I looked at the power bill for the month, as a new bill is coming soon, and I wanted to start planning ...

Someone, don't know just who {I have my suspicions and thank you so much} paid $1,000 towards the power bill, leaving him with a credit rather than a bill. I am so thankful! He struggles more than a normal person, when bills get piled up. Any amount of relief is a great reward for his health. His rent is caught up to December, so there is still a need but no 'past due balances' looming overhead. So many other bills falling behind....

We were hoping holiday events would have helped bridge the gap, but being in the mall didn't work out so well. Schools and church holiday bazaars were fantastic! We did the business justice. At the mall ... dark forces prevail. No Christmas music, no decorations... Coffins, skulls anything black - yes - even at Christmas. It looked much more like Halloween than Christmas type vendors and the way all the people dressed I thought 9 out of 10 were still wearing costumes from Halloween.

We had 1 more event at the mall but something has come up with his mom and a trip is being made for him to go be with her for a couple days. Unfortunately, the date he needs to be there is the same Friday before the event. So the decision was made to cancel the event and him go to see his mom. She is in her 80's and has dementia sadly it won't be long and she won't even know him.

That leaves us with a large amount of ready to go Gift Products available. Ready to go for online shopping!  I did some sizing up with boxes and I can get most items into 'flat rate shipping boxes' which will help keep costs down on shipping and make charges easier to calculate. 2 boxes of shot glasses ships for $6.95 for example.

Custom orders and open house! I will be busy working on the gifts we have planned for our own family as well as taking in orders. New supplies are on the way., some things won't be here for about a week or two.  Colored mugs are being discontinued, all mugs will be white with imaging. Still safe and non toxic as well as dishwasher safe! Tshirts are discontinued.  And I think the candle jars will be as well. They look so pretty when they are lit but you don't want a bunch of lit candles at an event NO, NO, NO.  So they don't get to 'shine' like they should on a display.

God knows our hearts, He knows the needs. God knows we try.  My family has been so blessed this year with many good things happening, for each of the kids in their own lives. Now, we are praying for answers for Tim this coming year. He has been doing a bit better with being retired, getting more rest and eating healthier. However, his weight is still dropping at an alarming rate and he can't seem to get any of it back. Other issues are stable, not having as many ups and downs.

Life is challenging sometimes,

Just remember..... Breathe and take it ~ One day at a time....

Christmas Cards

Well, the kids asked if we could do a picture of 'us' together, since it's been about a hundred years.... Chanelle thought it was her turn for a photo shoot, so we attempted to include her in the pictures. Mind you it took a few retakes... but this is about the best it's gonna get.

When we were setting up our pricing for photography work, we did quite a bit of online comparison and even requested a few quotes. Oh-my it's gotten expensive to have photographs taken!!

We made a commitment to be 'affordable quality' in our products and our photography productions.

So ~ when you see the price of $50 for 6 prints, rest assured - your getting a $500 professional sitting at a reasonable price! We don't do the print outs, you get to order those from your favorite photo shop.

Some folks have memberships to on line photo shops where they get 100 prints a month or free canvas prints. We give you digital files that are uploaded, to where you can access them at home and order out what you want. This allows you to take advantage of your memberships and bonus buys.

We love doing 'FUR BABY' photo shoots, which is another reason we set our price as it is. Sometimes pets don't cooperate in a 'studio' setting or a 15-minute time limit. We allow at least an hour, spending time with your fur babies to get them comfortable so they will act as natural as possible for their pictures.

We can apply your photographs to any of our product line. We have the machines here in our home studio which allows us to provide a faster turnaround time. Whether it's the portrait from a recent shoot we've done or old photographs you bring in. We love 'custom orders'. Helping preserve the memories to cherish for a lifetime.

I hope you take the time to explore @ Timbers Photography, enjoy the beauty of nature. Or maybe take a look through your old photo albums and I bet you can find a few pictures you would like to have on ornaments for the tree, perhaps a coffee mug, or maybe even on a couple shot glasses.?

Christmas Decorations already!

 Hard to believe
it's already Thanksgiving and Black Friday and Time to DECORATE!!

I managed to get the tree up and most of the inside work done. Hoping to get my son over to climb on the roof for Papa and put lights around the house.

Where did this year go? We spent so much time in doctor offices and at the hospital, it seems like we missed half of summer and all of the fall season.

My Grandsons turned 13 and 12 this past week! Teenagers already. They are all grown up so much and starting to get so interested in their friends, Grama isn't the 'one' anymore.

Feeling the whole
'empty nest' - 'sequil' - 'next generation'!

The quiet, the emptiness. Dust collecting on the toys. I'm hardly needed to watch anyone anymore, they are so independent, and my kids have gotten blessed each in their own situations. Jobs are improving, lifestyles are improving, no one has been able to buy a house just yet, but that too shall come in time.

Even the kids are getting so much. more grown up! My daughter has 4 grandkids of her own, and 3 of them are now in school.  I can't help but wonder if I'm going to be a great great grama in my lifetime. That would be so cool, no doubt.

I just can't believe how fast time has gone. How much everyone has grown, how far the family has come. Here we are at 'Christmas time' again. 6 birthdays to cover between Thanksgiving and Christmas day. On top of Christmas for over 2 dozen people...

Not only have I been busy making products for the weekend events, I've been working on ornaments for everyone in the family and each of the kids gets a mug with their own 'chosen' favorite photos. {Only you know about the ornaments, so shhhhh}

Tomorrow is going to be a grueling long day. We have to leave at 7 am and be set up and ready by 9 am to stay until 8 pm, to pack up and be out by 9 pm. 11 hours of 'sales time'. I just got done fixing and packing a cooler of food! Sandwiches, salad, fruit & cool whip, carrots and ranch for a snack, and the thermos is next to the coffee pot waiting to get filled. {Can't forget the coffee creamer this time}

Really need to see a 'good day'. We had a business meeting this morning and it's been decided that this location just doesn't fit our customer profile. We have 2 more events there before Christmas, and if it doesn't do better, I don't think we'll be doing that location again next holiday.

I don't think we'll actually be in the area! He's decided to sell the house after the first of the year and we've been looking around at 'cost per location' and 'what do you get for your buck' as far as 'rent' - house vs apartment.... Now to do some road trip research and go visit a few places and see how he likes it.

Me personally, where I go depends on where is my horse going to be. Is it a good place for her, and an improvement for 'us' to ride more. And of course the cost and value of the care she'll be given. Right now, my horse is in the best place I've ever boarded in the entire time I've had my horses!

Before you know it, Santa will be knocking bricks off the roof trying to find the chimneys that don't exist and it'll be time to ring in the new Year! 2024 - time for change. As always praying for answers for Papa's health and healing, praying for help in all aspects of life, and thanking the Lord for all He's done and doing in our lives, to bring us to where we need to be.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and survived the Black Friday sales crowds. God Bless and take care of each other.

Life happens so fast, take a minute to appreciate the ones around you!

Got to Have a few Nut Crackers around the house, to protect and bring good fortune over the Holidays.

Transformations

He knew we'd go through a stretch before it all worked out.

But, It's stressful, falling behind when you're trying to stay on top. Hard to stay positive and upbeat. Then remember the mental side of it. Makes it a little harder when you're fighting depression and other thoughts.

Ever since I dropped him off at the ER to get a text only minutes later telling me they are doing a surgical procedure....

I've been close by. He has NO ONE else.

So much has happened to him health wise the past year and more rapidly as time progresses. I worry about him. He's down to 110 pounds and he's eating.

So, we've put in calls to the doctors again. Hoping to get appointments and some more testing done. I've been helping him learn to cook so he can eat healthier, been helping him get his business off the ground a bit so he has something to keep his mind occupied. Social Security processing is a slow process. There is waiting for doctors to return information, waiting for other places to get all your documents turned in.

It's all part of the transformation.

Once he can get his disability, he can stabilize his bills and focus totally on his health. That's where he needs to get. He has no one else to help him out and would be lost on his own trying to navigate from working to full retirement.

He's considering selling the house and getting into something less expensive. Rentals have advantages when your a senior, if you find the right place. It would be good for him to not have to worry about crawling under the house or getting on the roof. He has dizzy spells and gets claustrophobic. Even though it's a small yard, it's still straining muscles he shouldn't be putting strain on.

I knew it would be tight, I pray Social Security sees his need and I'm really praying the doctors can finally give us answers over the next few appointments.

Meanwhile, Thanksgiving was a very blessed day. Many of the family stopped by and really helped bring his spirits up. I cooked a turkey for him, so he's got lots to eat for a few days! And we're doing the mall event this weekend together so I'm hoping that brings more positive energy to the situation.

Started decorating his house tonight for Christmas... always something that cheers him up.

Today's Thoughts.

Another day at the mall. It's getting a bit easier to sit for such a long day. The last couple hours are still a bit rough. My hip doesn't do well sitting for so long, so I end up hurting the last leg of the event.  We had a good day. Didn't quite make it to buy a Thanksgiving dinner, but we made some sales, did some networking and had a good time meeting the 'neighbors' and visiting with folks.

He's having a hard time. The 'procedure' seems to work. So there is some good news. The financial end of things isn't so good. Social security is a slow process. Meanwhile the 'business' we had hoped would carry him through isn't doing as well as hoped for. So there is plenty of stress there. He's losing weight at an unstoppable rate.

Last night he tells me again - "I feel like I'm dying". It kills me because I am watching him wither away. And I can't say, "No you're going to be okay". Because the doctors still haven't told us what's wrong and what can we do to fix him. Every day is a blessing right now. We really don't know if we'll have a tomorrow. He wasn't feeling good last night after the event and the depression is getting worse.

Need a few prayers, answers to know what direction to go. Peace to carry us through it.  Grateful and thankful for all God has done, and praying He continues to walk with me through this dark tunnel - we call life.

Great Gift Ideas

Veterans Day weekend -2023

The parade was rained out, so I didn't go. We did a little photo shooting here, set up the Christmas backdrop and displays. Had some fun with the cats, dog, kids and grandkids.

Chanelle wasn't too sure about sitting on the chair, but she eventually got the hang of it.  Getting her to put her ears up was another difficult task. I think we ended up with one shot with the ears 'sort of' up.?

It was nice to have some nights with the youngest grandchildren, and today I took a drive to see the older ones. It's been a long fall season without seeing any of them! I had to get my fix in! Mind you 'Miss Lulu' the St Bernard puppy at my daughters, missed us as much as the kids I think. I had to wash my coats when I got home from all the slobber. LOL.

It was a rough start this morning with printer malfunctions... I'm still Leary to switch back and use the other printer, now that the production printer is working again. I really don't understand what happened. Everything was fine a couple nights ago, I could print from either - then this morning, needed to do a quick print and ........

So thankful for tech support at Microsoft!! It really only took him a few minutes to find the problem and figure out a fix.

I spent the better part of last week working on the 'Business Plan' for Timbers Photography, Getting the plan laid out and adding points gradually as we think of them. It was a bit ironic that Friday's post in one of my groups spoke out about all business should have a 'Business Plan'. No matter how small and how long ago you started.  {They say great minds think alike.}

We've been adding a few new product photographs to his website, and I've been setting up a few 'smaller' displays for photographs to use as 'samples' when we apply at events. The event coordinators usually want a few pictures of products and display set ups.  So - I've put together mini table displays with just a dash of our 'best sellers'.

This is the display table that shows the products available when someone stops by the home studio for a photo shoot.

It's hard to believe it's already Veterans Day and the middle of November. I know the stores and a great many folks are getting ready for Christmas already. My little granddaughter tells me, we need to wait til after Thanksgiving and give the Turkey his time. So we will continue the family traditions of waiting until Thanksgiving weekend to begin the Christmas decorating at our house.

Meanwhile, we need to do some figuring...
Who's coming for Thanksgiving dinner and who's cooking their own, or who wants us over?
I'm almost guessing everyone is doing their own thing for Thanksgiving and I'm going to be stuffing Cornish Game Hens.
It's the perfect Thanksgiving dinner for just a couple people.  Sometimes, there is even a few leftovers!

Well, Tomorrows Monday and I've got to figure out how to get a few things accomplished. Praying for a some guidance and a few blessings along the way.  The Lord knows my needs, knows my heart and knows the answers!

Just a reminder ~ we are taking orders for Holiday Ornaments, for just a couple more weeks.  Simply email the photos you want made into ornaments, the address to ship to and your name and contact information. We will confirm the photos are usable, calculate your shipping fees and send you an invoice. Once payment is received, production will begin. You can expect your ornaments in 2 weeks or less!
