Finally ~ A Taste of Spring

 I say 'just a taste' simply because, we have been averaging about 1 day a week of actual spring type weather. It's still been pretty cold most of the time. A couple days people say we hit 60, but me personally, never have gotten thawed out, so it's still 40 something to me and the heat bill is still through the roof! {I need a wood stove in the house before next winter}

 Miss Star Bright is shedding like crazy so I know Spring has to be 'just around the corner'.!  Yes, my horse is the best indicator of spring and winter for me. She fluffs up as it gets cold and if it's going to be really cold she gets really fluffy early, so you know the storm is coming. In the spring she drops the fluff at the rate of thawing.... If it's going to get warm quickly, she sheds fast. This year it's almost April and she's finally starting to shed slowly and it's barely getting warm, slowly.......

 We have our first 'new' saddle, as well as all new gear to break in. This year we plan to ride more .. as soon as it's warm enough for me to be outside more than an hour at a time... We now have a 'light weight' trail saddle. It's about 15 pounds and easy to toss up and take off. I like it for my ailing shoulder and she likes it because it's light.

 I heard it's supposed to drop below freezing again this next week. Sucks. Most folks are getting sick of the cold and gray weather. We are not used to freezing temps around here this time of year. So it's not global warming, it's global freezing to us. We are used to rain and lots of it. We are used to it being wet and warm. Sometimes breezy ... never freezy! this much.

I really hope Spring and Summer come soon,
we both need to get in shape and
WE are Itchin to get out of the Arena !

Then

The closer you get to the end, the faster time seems to pass. We wish we could relive moments of our youth.

Perhaps we are supposed to slow down and enjoy the moments. Make the most of the memories.

Someone once gave me some amazing advice...... Don't wait til your old to understand it.

"Be where your feet are".

Who Farted?

I don't know why, but it's the thought that 'popped' into my head.....

Happy St.Patrick's Day!!

It's something everybody does, just like breathing, eating, peeing and pooping... why is it so damn funny to some? and so repulsive to others?

Come on now, I think everybody has had at least

ONE embarrassing FART in their lifetime...

I grew up with a mother that could hold the distance and held the record for time !! Every morning from the minute her feet hit the ground until she reached the bathroom - no matter how far away it was {Including the outhouse that was halfway across the backyard}..
She could carry a fart without a breathe, break or pause...

Oh, and the memories you never forget...

Years ago....

We were at a Walmart store I was walking down the aisle towards the candles. At the end of the row was a customer and a store employee. The employee was about to climb the ladder to put stuff up on a shelf...

As I'm walking towards them, I make the comment " I wonder what smells we have today"..... I no sooner get the words out of my mouth and with her next step up the ladder - this poor girl FARTS!.

I immediately tell my husband "DON'T SAY IT".... The other customer that was standing there walks away and you can see him starting to laugh...  Hubby sees him... I repeat myself "DON'T SAY IT"... Without looking at either man, or candles I continued to walk to the check out and was finished shopping for the night.  By the time we got home, hubby was in tears from laughing so hard. I managed to hold my composer until we left the store, it wasn't easy.

A week later when we went into Walmart again and that poor girl seen us at the entrance and she disappeared toward the back of the store. I never saw her again!

Horse Farts

I now live with a horse that has the cleanest healthiest digestive system there is!! My horse farts a lot. And I've never had a horse colic...

We used to board at a community barn. I'd be in her stall cleaning, others would be cleaning their horses and my girl would start farting.... next thing you know - your hearing this giggling or all out laughter from other stalls in the barn....

All I could say was "It wasn't me!" and that would cause an outburst even more so...

Life's short, don't take everything so serious!

It's been 32 YEARS !! and counting..

And we are about as different as the 2 cups!

We met 32 years ago today. March 15th 1991.

We were like best friends for 9 years and 1 month.

Then we got married..........

After raising 5 kids {4 mine 1 his} for 9 years together.....

as soon as we got married -

BOTH of our EX'S took us to court and accused us of CHILD ABUSE on the youngest 2 of the 5.
{Two different counties - costing us double the expenses with attorneys and court costs}

You see, now that we were married - our incomes were COMBINED! Making what we would have to pay in child support a MUCH HIGHER number that what they were supposed to be paying to us. Between the 2 of them they OWED US ALMOST $100,000.00!! in back support at that time.

{BUT - I'm accused of always wanting the money - WHAT MONEY? }

WE WON our kids back.

THE CHARGES WERE DROPPED and our EX'S were seen as vindictive an destructive.

DO YOU THINK IT MATTERED?

Too many people choose to believe we ABUSED our children. ONLY 2 OF THEM.

Needless to say our 23 years of marriage HAVE BEEN HELL.

WE LOST EVERYTHING because of them and their shit. Many friends have walked out or been shut out of our lives. Our family has been a roller coaster ride of emotions, good and bad. We are not all CLOSE - some of us haven't been around the rest in the 23 years since.

We haven't always been TOGETHER during these 32 years. We've stayed friends. We've stayed family {at least him with my kids and I} His family treats my kids and I like we don't exist. They always have.

It was ugly for a while. Finally a doctor, the right medications and GOD,  It got pretty UGLY there for a while.

Now his physical health is a struggle.

NOT the HAPPILY EVER AFTER

you dream about. But it's been okay. Considering all we've been through, we are lucky we are still alive.

But hey - KEEP GOING!

There are so many wonderful memories mixed up in there... 4 kids, 10 grandkids, 4 great grandkids....

It's an okay life. Blessed in many ways, we've all grown stronger and wiser. Some of us closer than before. I can't imagine the last 32 years without him around.... regardless of how the ride was.

So today

we celebrate 32 years TOGETHER ..

OFFICIALLY a FELINE KITTY RESCUE

 It would seem, we are officially a CAT RESCUE.

And have been for years.....

Gizmo will be 13 this year! and Cleo is almost 10!

Everybody loves Chanelle!
Tux and Sylvester were raised by our Min Pin Sophia
before she passed a year ago Christmas.
Chanelle is the new Barker!

Gizmo loves the beds!

Tux and Sylvester are brothers and just celebrated their 2nd birthday!

Cleo and Charlie were the only girls!

This little fellow came knocking and stayed for about 3 weeks
until we located his owners and they were reunited!!

Everyone loves lounging around...

We are currently trying to raise money for
Sylvester
He seems to be having issues with
gaining weight and keeping weight on ...

Felico's friend was hit by a car, so he started hanging out in our yard.
Next he was at the window, but he wouldn't come in the door.
So one day, I opened the window and he came bouncing in.
He played so hard that day that he slept the entire next day.
He's now 1 year with us..

And Chanelle is perfectly fine with that since she likes to be the ONLY dog. {She's also the smallest one of the bunch}

 Whether we choose to help a particular one in need, or one chooses us by coming to the door and coming in. Or someone calls and asks if we can take in just one more .... or maybe a couple kittens....

{We have bird feeders just outside and They love watching the birds out the windows}

CATS WELCOME.

 We have went from just a couple cats to as many as 7, no 8 no... I think there has actually been over a dozen at one time. Some come and stay forever. Others find their peoples and are reunited. And there are those that come and stay for a few months to a year, then go out one day and just don't come back.

 Those are the hardest.

We think about Charlie every day...

 I didn't wake up one day and say "This is what I want to do". It's just worked out this way.

 Crazy Cat people...

So here we are...

My Girl ~ Star Bright

 Spring is on the way!! It took forever to brush her out the shedding has begun. Since we had a bit of sunshine today, we cleaned up the winter field, her shelter and HER.

 Then we dressed up with the new saddle and did a short work out. It's been over a year since she wore a saddle, and since my butt has sat on one. So we are breaking ourselves into it nice and slow.

 A quick work out to see how the saddle rides on it's own. {She's so beautiful}

A few minutes in the arena... A couple bucks lol.

There it is! My very first brand new saddle.
All previous saddles have either come with the horse
or been gifted as a hand me down.
