I say 'just a taste' simply because, we have been averaging about 1 day a week of actual spring type weather. It's still been pretty cold most of the time. A couple days people say we hit 60, but me personally, never have gotten thawed out, so it's still 40 something to me and the heat bill is still through the roof! {I need a wood stove in the house before next winter}
Miss Star Bright is shedding like crazy so I know Spring has to be 'just around the corner'.! Yes, my horse is the best indicator of spring and winter for me. She fluffs up as it gets cold and if it's going to be really cold she gets really fluffy early, so you know the storm is coming. In the spring she drops the fluff at the rate of thawing.... If it's going to get warm quickly, she sheds fast. This year it's almost April and she's finally starting to shed slowly and it's barely getting warm, slowly.......
We have our first 'new' saddle, as well as all new gear to break in. This year we plan to ride more .. as soon as it's warm enough for me to be outside more than an hour at a time... We now have a 'light weight' trail saddle. It's about 15 pounds and easy to toss up and take off. I like it for my ailing shoulder and she likes it because it's light.
I heard it's supposed to drop below freezing again this next week. Sucks. Most folks are getting sick of the cold and gray weather. We are not used to freezing temps around here this time of year. So it's not global warming, it's global freezing to us. We are used to rain and lots of it. We are used to it being wet and warm. Sometimes breezy ... never freezy! this much.
