It's been several years since.....
I remember a day up in Vancouver BC. Canada, when Tim, his son, my youngest daughter and myself all went to Tim Horton's for lunch. {By the way the Tim Hortons US is not the same as Tim Horton's Canada. Canada's tastes much better}
In any case, we ordered, we paid and we sat down. They were a bit busy so there was a minute wait for the food. The waitress was kind enough to bring our lunch out to us, rather than call us to a crowded counter.
When she arrived, she handed Tim a "Chicken Salad Sandwich". He pushed it back and said "I didn't order that". She looked at our ticket and said "Yes, sir you did." He started to get upset with her and I interrupted to say "Yes Tim, you did". He immediately stopped yelling at her and turned to yell at me.... "Why didn't you stop me, you know I always order Turkey Club?".
Needless to say, we stopped going out to lunch together.
Now here we are with his health failing fast and him being determined to work til he's in his 60's. Mind you at the rate he's going he's not going to live that long. When ever I ask him if he's ready to surrender he orders the "chicken salad" - no, I'm gonna keep working. When in reality his body is telling him "turkey club" - retire and rest.
So no matter how many times he says he's fine and able to work {chicken salad}
I know he really means - I need to retire {turkey club}.
