Endless Possibilities

I'm impressed! Perhaps not so much with myself, but with the idea I came up with and how it's all turning out and coming together.

I'm still perfecting things, Papa's still resizing images to the best fit and altering the lighting to the sizes. The smaller you go the darker the images get.

And now he wants all new pictures with the new camera and equipment.

He loves to take pictures. People, places ~ things. When he started getting sick on top of dealing with mental challenges, I knew his work life would be shorter than he expected.

Retirement actually kills some people.

For many, that routine and the companionship of the co-workers is a big part of their lives. Those that do it repeatedly with the same company for so many years, have a harder time adapting to changes. Especially changes in their routine and financial status.

Idle minds are a dangerous place!

So, while I was busy making a few direct sales companies richer and myself broker.... I brought him along with his photographs. I listened and watched as folks reacted.

Hence the founding thoughts that led to 'now'. Where we are working together to build the company and not making anyone else rich, nor ourselves really. But it is helping a little financially and a lot health wise.

I have always been a CRAFTER/ARTIST.

I wish I would have realized then what I have come to know now.

Whenever there were gift exchanges at school, my family being poor, wouldn't be able to 'go out and buy gifts for all of us kids and our classes'. So, my mom would dig out her crafting supplies. Then we would figure out who it was we had to buy for ~ and something personal would get created.

I always loved the homemade Barbie clothes! My personal favorite.

Sadly, I went to school in the 70's when the 'push' for 'name brands' and 'spending the most money' seemed important to kids.?  Homemade, wasn't popular.

My talents were needed yet again in life....

I was a young mother of 4 kids. My first husbands work would lay off in the fall and not pick up again until spring. Winters were hard financially; and Christmas was often a very stressful time for us. One of the many ways we combatted the need for school clothes twice a year, Birthdays, Easter and Christmas was ~ LAYAWAY. 10 to 12 weeks to pay before the holiday would arrive. Most of our favorite stores offered the plan all year round.

We were able to give our kids a pretty good life.

Then there was the obstacle of 'the kids' wanting to shop for family and friends. . . So the crafting began again... Birthdays, Anniversaries, Holidays...

During the weeks before Christmas the kids would sit around the table and paint ceramics, make candles and all kinds of little things to give Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles - cousins.... The supplies would only cost about a third or less of what it would have cost to 'buy' everyone a gift. And this way, no one would be left out. There was always enough supply to make 'yet one more thing'!

And yet again ~

So here we are now with these amazing machines that can turn the photographs into 'anything' ~ and of course, my first thought was the grandchildren. One granddaughter picked out a photo print to make a Tshirt for her mom, another granddaughter has decorated a piece of sublimation paper with special ink pens to decorate a cup!

As you can see, talent continues to run in the family!

Shall I say this year will be so much fun! Not only is my oven fixed so we can actually bake our favorite Christmas treats, but ~~~~

I have plans to bring the grandkids over and we'll be going through old family photos and their mom's and dad's will be so surprized when they open the presents this year!

Good Morning!

It's been a while I must say! My apologize to all. It has been a month of crazy shit around here! Birthday included. It was nice. 59, not a big deal. My son, daughter in law and Granddaughter came to visit with flowers, and my granddaughter stayed the night. It had been a while since I'd seen any of them, so it was special.

I Had the other younger grandchildren the weekend before. That little grandson turns 7 today! He's the youngest of them all! and he's growing up so fast. Another Busy day today - I need to get the shopping done and I have presents to drop off tonight.

The passing of my brother is still under investigation, so there is also a dark cloud looming overhead. We do try to keep it in the distance and not the forefront - But it's there. The funeral costs have come to about $4,000.00, so we are gathering funds from all sources. I'd love to send my oldest brother the whole amount, but that would depend on the help we get with a few donations....

For anyone interested in helping out the funds can be sent to my Paypal ~ https://www.paypal.me/horseaddict, just list 'funeral' as the subject. There is only me and 2 older brothers to pay for this. One is 69 and the other is 70. Both live on limited pensions... So there is a lot on me to come up with the money for this one.

Retirement and opening a new business for Papa Tim has been a lot of work for me. Between ordering equipment and product supplies to the lineup of production, not to mention learning new machines. A few errors and flops along the way. It's a learning curve. Most of the supplies have a bit of a profit margin, so there is a little room for rejects without having to jack up any prices to ridiculous.

The events have been interesting to say the least. I'm glad we are indoors for the winter season. It rained last Saturday while we were in the mall, and I was ever so grateful to not be out there in the wind and weather. We have decided that outdoor events will be carefully scheduled during only good weather months. If we can actually find indoor events for the summer, they will have preference over the outdoor ones. Between too cold and wet to the too hot and windy. . . Then the fact I'm a little older and not so easy to pop up tents.

More back walls and a black back drop behind them.... I know. The canvas 's don't have the 'wow' impact they should, because you can see everything from the other side and it's too busy. I now have all folding tables and they are much easier to load, unload, and set up. Table clothes for all occasions now from Spring until Christmas.! We weren't allowed to set up our Tshirts at this event, there is another Tshirt booth and they had exclusive rights - so we have an over stock of Tshirts in Med- Large- and Ext Large They sell for $15 each and we have several of our best photographs on them!

I'll be doing a bit of product photography and adding pictures and prices here. You'll be able to see the prints we have. This is a great opportunity to get a little holiday shopping done, and you don't even have to leave the warm comfort of your home. ! Delivery fees vary depending on locations shipped to. I recommend if you like it, buy it, some items are one of a kind at the moment and there are no duplicates.

Meanwhile, Today is another busy day as I said..
I am about to go to the denture place for the first fitting with my new teeth! This has been a very long summer without them. I'm a bit excited.

So, for now, I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy what's left of September!

Wiped OUT!

It's been a rough couple weeks! I don't know what that 'sick' was, but it was a butt kicker! I'm still not 100% and it's been almost 2 weeks since the start of this.  The migraine headache kept me from the laptop as the lighting hurt my eyes. It was a couple days of down horizontal and dizzy when I'm up. That kept me home too.

A lot has been going on with life as well.. While I was preparing for my birthday, I was notified that my brother had passed. Then just a couple days later I'm told it's being investigated as a homicide. That made the birthday a bit rougher than usual. I managed to feel better at least, so I could somewhat enjoy the day. Tried not to think about things.

I got the approval letter for my dentures and I made it in yesterday for the casting.. I should have teeth in just a couple weeks.! It was a bit scary when I got the first letter that my insurance refused the claim. Just about 2 days later I got another letter where they approved it! I don't understand the insurance and why they did it that way, but I'm grateful I will have teeth in just a couple more weeks.!

Papa went in for one of his procedures today, the bladder scope. He's in a bit of pain and trying to rest now. Tomorrow we see the colon specialist again ~ he'll need a couple more days to rest from that. Still no conclusive answers as to what's going on inside of him.

Hopefully we can get our strength back and be ready for this weekend....

This Saturday only @ the Outlet Collection mall. Head towards the food court & Burlington coat factory. There are about 30+ vendors that will be there as well. This is a great opportunity to pick up some fall decorations, start prepping for Halloween and celebrating fall season.

Happy Grandparents Day

I got a bit of my Grama fix in this weekend. It's been nearly 6 plus weeks since I've gotten to see any of the kids. It was nice to have laughter and singing throughout the house. Even Chanelle has missed the kids {as you can see}.

Tiki wanted to go riding today, but my board host lost her horse this past week and I wanted to give her a few days to grieve. As we get older our passions have to adjust. She's not getting another horse. This is a person who has had horses her whole life, so this will be a first.

The last thing we want to leave behind when we pass for ourselves, is to leave our horse to chance. This is the very reason I decided against a baby this spring. I don't see myself making it another 35 years and most horses in a good situation can live a very long life.

So now there is a horse trailer for sale and a pasture up for board. I'm not sure what all else she's selling. The kids have an early day at school on Wednesday, so I'm going to pick them up and we'll head to the barn for a ride. The weather is supposed to be good this week so no worries there. Things should be a little lighter on the hearts by then too.

The new laptop has led to being able to sort and shuffle some very old photos and documents. DELETE has been the most used key so far. Documents that are no longer relevant and duplicates are being removed from all the USBs'.... Along the way I ran into a few {well - a lot} of old photos. Brought back some sweet memories of my very first granddaughters.

I could go pick them up anytime. If my daughter felt I needed the company, she'd bring them to me. We spent summers together, hanging out and having adventures. Yes I did some babysitting. It was actually my 2 younger kids {The Uncle and Aunt} that did the entertaining and helping with the babies until they were all a few years older.

I have a special relationship with my grandsons too. {still working on sorting pictures} One thing I can say for my oldest daughter is no matter what, she never came between me and the kids as far as our relationships went. There were times she would be upset with me, and even then I could go get the kids anytime! I wish I could say the same all my kids.

Let's be real here, the only reason I got to have my youngest daughters kids this weekend was because she needed a babysitter. But I do believe I could go get them whenever I wanted. Why anyone would want to deprive their child of someone that loves them, I will never understand.

As a grandparent I know I'm blessed. I have many friends that never get to see their grandchildren, and some that have to raise their grandchildren, due to the loss of a child. Some never get to experience what it is to be a grandparent. I know I'm blessed. I just wish I could see them all.

Let the Production Begin!

Spent the past couple weeks having the web sites tweaked and cleaned up. Looking much better now. Things are running smoother and easier to load. All of the primary links checked. Some links in posts from long ago may no longer work. If it's something you are interested in knowing more about, shoot me a comment with the form below or email me with your questions. Some of my posts have been removed for reasons beyond me?  some removed by my choice, as they are no longer valid.

Life is an everchanging journey. Some folks are lucky and given a stable livelihood, while others are constantly on the move. We have to be able to flex and keep moving forward, no matter what comes our way. "Life's a journey enjoy the ride."

Retirement lasted 2 days and I put him to work. The yard needed done before the rainy season hits. It's already getting chilly so it won't be long now. I just need a couple more bags of dirt and a couple bags of bark then all my plants will be ready for the cold and winter snow.

The secret {if you want to call it a secret} is 'horse poop'. I bring home a garbage can of poop that has started to compost, layer all my plants after they have been transplanted, then add a layer of bark. . . They winter well and the rain brings all the nutrients down to the roots, so next year... the blooms will be twice as much as this year. You should see what it's done for the strawberry patch.

Since his retirement we've bought the 'blank' products and the printing and press machines, now to turn the photos into the products and be ready for the next event! We've found some perfect new display walls and stands, to make the most of our selling space, no matter what event we're at. We can fill a 10x10 tent, or 12' of table space. The display walls will give us another 12' of exposure and space for the canvas and prints.

Our first Heat press should be here next week. It's the last piece of the puzzle to complete our production line. After much research and comparison - We finally bought the printer last Friday, saved over $300! Yes, I made sure to get extra sublimation ink, paper, heat tape and gloves. After hours of traffic that I wasn't expecting we made it to Best Buy and bought the new computers today. They were having an amazing sale and we saved another $150 on each computer!

This week will be 'work'! Getting everything ready for the holiday event season. I managed to get us booked up to the beginning of December, hoping to squeeze a couple more weekends in before Christmas. Would love to sell out on the holiday inventory.

Well I got a couple more things to hook up before I shut my eyes for the night. Hope all is well in your world. Good night folks.

It's Back to School Season!

 Happy Tuesday!

It used to be typically that on this Tuesday ~ Everyone, everywhere - went 'back to school'.

Traditionally ~
This is the 'First day of School', 'End of Summer', 'Back to the work routine'...
Time to pack up the summer clothes and dig out the bulky sweaters, cause winter is a comin'. DAY.

Please be aware of SCHOOL BUSES and the KIDS running around to get on or off them.

Sometimes I miss the days of taking the kids shopping for school clothes and supplies. I miss the smell of the 'old school buildings'. Sometimes, I miss the noise around the house of having the kids here.

Then I remember the feeling of sanity the first day back to school. The quiet peace I have now. The clean house that I don't really have to clean anymore..........

Nope, I think I miss the noise and craziness more!

Thank God for Grandchildren to keep the crazy going, at least for a few more years.....

But then they too grow up. They are all in school or beyond into motherhood and raising families, now too... I will admit, Being a Great Grandma is pretty awesome!

Nope - I'm really not that dang old, just have that many generations under my belt.

I've seen a lot of changes over the years. I'm most shocked by the changes in our education systems and how bad it's become. Training young employees in a new position,

Many of us 'old timers' ask the fatal question ~

"WHAT ARE THEY TEACHING KIDS IN SCHOOL THESE DAYS?"

We would really like to know....

I also wonder what are 'parents teaching their children' these days?
One of my last 'trainee's' didn't even know how to mop a floor!

Please feel free to share what it's like where you are, just click 'comments' below and tell us about it! Love to hear from you.

Retirement ~

Swing shift for many, many years.... TV dinners, sandwiches, micro chili, and many other quick choices to call dinner. After the COVID situation, the company cafeteria closed, only recently reopening. Second shift would always be the left overs from day shift lunches, so the frozen micro meals were better looking more often than not.

Today started with lounging around til noonish, then brunch at Denny's. {He wanted to explore the 55 plus menu, only to end up ordering from the regular menu.} Then it was accomplish a few 'honey do's' . There was some things that have needed done for the business equipment and supplies to get organized. Finishing with being able to BBQ and enjoy a real dinner. To be followed by a nice walk through the neighborhood with Chanelle to end the night.

The last week of work was really hard on him. There was a few days I wasn't sure he'd make it all night. It's a real relief to see him able to relax and rest. We have an event for 2 of the 3 day weekend, then next week it's orders and doctor appointments and product prepping.. I almost have the event schedule booked up to Christmas! So we have much work to do to get products ready.

Total time 'retired' 2 days. His business is now his job and he has to learn to work for himself rather than for someone else. This requires creating habits that are productive, being consistent, and staying motivated. You have to get up every day and do something towards networking and working your business.

We have some business investments coming in the next couple weeks. A few new pieces of equipment, and some wonderful manufacturing products. It's going to be exciting setting up the new production room and getting started. With a scheduled photo shoot at least once every couple weeks, we should have some amazing prints for Christmas!!

Retiring isn't just about leaving your job. It's about making time for the things you really want and enjoy doing.. Life is taking on a whole new perspective.

Like turning onto a new road for the first time!
