Feels like a Dark Road..

Well, Papa had his doctor's appointment on Monday. The results weren't as good as we hoped and nothing of what we expected. He's still processing the results.

😟😟It's life changing.

While on the way to the appointment, my daughter called asking if my granddaughter could come hang out with me for a few days.

She informed me that she was at the hospital with my youngest grandson, they went into the ER Sunday night and were then transported to Childrens hospital by ambulance.

Today is Tuesday and they are still there!

Little man has a swollen neck and large lump and the doctor said he has a swollen spleen. Now he is scheduled for a biopsy tomorrow, so hopefully some answers will come to light. There are so many doctors trying to figure this out and they still didn't know what kind of infection or what was causing it. . . or what it is....

👵👴👩👨We are talking ~ A team from Infectious disease and a Blood specialist team, in addition to regular doctors. ...

It's been a long - couple of days.

My daughter is handling it all alone at the hospital and I'm here with my granddaughter, keeping her spirits up. Not sure how we are going to handle tomorrow.  I'm concerned for what the answers will be. Hoping for some positive results.

Faith, Hope, Belief,

➤ Here's where it all comes to the test. For both Papa and little Man.

God knows our needs; He knows our hearts. He's never left me hanging before, I don't anticipate He will this time either.

➤ Time to Prepare ~

For the road ahead. ~

It's going to be long, dark and challenging at times.
More than it has been over the past decade, and even in all the years before that.

I have to say, getting old sucks, having complications makes it worse.
Not having a strong support system has it feeling like an uphill climb in a wheelchair.

➤ There are things that can be done to make it easier as time progresses.

➤ Having a plan and trying to follow it helps.

When things get confusing it's nice to have a map to fall back on.
Photographs and reminders of memories will keep things 'alive' in the mind.
Post-Its help us hide our 'forgetfulness' with little reminders.
Grandchildren give you a reason to wake up every morning.
Family keeps us feeling 'needed and wanted', which for older folks - is important.

Nobody wants to feel that they have "Outlived their welcome".

Blessed

A good day.

It was quite a day! Up at 4 am and get the car loaded and on the road by 6ish. The Boutique was a well-organized event, that went very nice. As always - I pray before I go, not only for our business, but for all the vendors of the day. It isn't just about sales, it's about networking, socializing, making new friends and business acquaintances. Doing a little shopping of our own and seeing some very beautiful works by some pretty talented people. It's about God being glorified by our actions over the course of the day.

It's so important to be positive! I was a bit disappointed in a few folks. We were there at the opening for vendors and were setting up our tables as others came in. A few people walking past us down to their spot, were complaining already! "Why are we way down here?" "I don't like walking this far"..... "I don't like this spot".... and by the end of the day, we heard "I'm not coming back, I don't like where they put me". or "We didn't do very well at all, didn't make table $$."

Whether we do fantastic or not a sale at all. Unless you're specifically watching our every move. You couldn't tell from one event to the next, if we had a 'good $$ day' or a "0 $$ day". Other than getting tired as the day goes on, our attitude remains the same. From the opening to the end, even while packing up. A successful day doesn't mean 'just making money'. Every time someone compliments our works, takes a business card, or spends a minute chatting. It's as important as every sale!

It also gives us the opportunity to listen to what people like and don't like. To see what does sell and what doesn't. Which prints are favored and what new images we can add.

"You learn something new every day. Take advantage of the learning opportunity and you will have a successful day every time. "

Update on Papa

Retirement has been good for him for the most part. He was starting to gain a bit of weight getting back up by 5 pounds. However, a 'flu bug' has hit him pretty hard. So, it's been a struggle with no appetite. He's staying busier than he expected to be working on his photography. A lot of the computer work he can do laying down so it's not as hard on him as sitting up all the time or walking around, like he had to do at his job.

Last month he had 2 different procedures that were painful and intense. Recovery took a few days for each. The results were positive to some extent. Nothing showed up as being the cause of ''what's going on''. So it's good nothing bad showed up in one sense, and we still don't have the answers to ''what's wrong'' in another sense {not so good}.

The Doctor appointments are slowing down a bit, and what's coming up are tests and some serious 'procedures' that are going to take him a bit of time to recover again. It's really a good thing he retired when he did, all this missed time from work would have been devastating. Plus, he doesn't get as stressed out about not being able to go to work. He's resting and actually recovering as much as possible.

Praying for answers and an end to his pain and suffering, so he can enjoy what's left of life.

"Tomorrow doesn't come with a guarantee, appreciate today".

We've been creating ads for the products, and I needed some specific photos. I couldn't help but snap a shot when I walked in the other evening, and he was working on photos in his pjs.

Helping him adjust to the changes and get into new routine has been rewarding this time around. He's actually been cooking real food and not always eating cereal and frozen dinners. He looks healthier and seems much better emotionally. He's become far more relaxed.

For people that are Bipolar, Autistic, or have other types of mental disabilities, change can be difficult. It was a lot of changes in a short time that caused the initial 'snap'. Sometimes you can't stop what's happening in life, you have to learn how to roll with it. That can be more difficult for some people than others. Having a plan and making smaller adjustments seems to have made this a smoother transition for him.

In turn, it makes life easier for me too. I'm dreaming of the day, I get to put my life in order, but I'm being optimistic, it's getting closer. One of these days, I'm going to wake up and WOW.

Change of Plans

No Raceway for us today....

When you sell a product, you have to think about the type of people that will be attending the events you're lining up to show your wares at. Shopping oriented events always promote higher sales, Whereas, family activities events, are more focused on the activities rather than spending money on shopping.

Remember I said it was the first year they were going to have sales vendors there. So, this was a real 'maybe' for our product line. We didn't know where they planned to put vendors and how it was all going to blend in with the races. We would know more on Friday.

After a complete evaluation of the plan, we decided it's best not to do the 'races'. For one, our products are not really 'racing' oriented. For two, the horrid fog that has been overtaking us in the mornings. We have a lot of paper / photo paper * based products and the moisture in the mornings could be quite damaging. For three, it's a racetrack - loud - stinky - dusty and did I mention - loud. And fourth - our tent broke a leg and sprung a leak at the last event. We were not planning to buy a new tent until spring; We would have to bring a bolt and gray tape to do some preliminary work. {Tacky}

Papa is still recovering a bit from the last procedure, not quite feeling 100%, plus we ended up getting sick a few weeks ago and neither of us are up to 100% from that either. Spending the day outside in the ever-changing weather doesn't sound like a good idea to stay healthy. We have 2 more events this month, both are indoors. It's best to keep our health up, and the products in top shape for those events, rather than have everything covered in dust and destroyed from the moisture of the morning dew.

We've had a rather large order delayed for nearly a month now, I think that has been a factor in our decision as well. The box is finally due today! It has business supplies and products. Plus, I have a few other packages due today and really don't want a bunch of boxes sitting on the porch all day with no one home.

Sometimes the stars just don't line up for something to happen. I've learned to not force the 'forces' and just 'go with the flow' a little more. Life is smoother, I'm happier and there is so much less stress!  Everything always seems to work out, somehow.

Meanwhile, and as always ~ if you have noticed anything that sparked your delight as we feature products here and on FB, we do take direct orders and would be happy to put one together for you.

I have a few special requests going on right now.
A photograph emailed to us, can be reproduced on most all of our products.

Happy Birthday Dad~

Wish you all were still here.. .

My dad would have turned 104 years old today, if he were alive!

He's been gone over 20 years now. My mom followed just a year and a half later. The first to go was my oldest sister; she passed over 30 years ago, and my youngest brother passed just a week before my birthday last month. My family is almost all gone.

There are only 3 of us left! My 2 oldest brothers and myself; The baby of the bunch. My oldest brother turns 71 on the 24th and my other older brother turns 70 on December 12th. Being the youngest, I'm feeling like I may end up being the last man standing. I must admit, it's a bit of a lonely feeling sometimes.

Sucks getting older in some ways. You start losing the ones you love.

I got word today that my youngest brother's ashes have finally been given to the family and they are with my oldest brother now. We are still waiting for the coroner's report to find out the cause of death. There is a suspicion and investigation of murder... so it's been hard to get into the "Holiday Season".

Grief is a process..  One must allow themselves time ~ regardless of how long it takes other folks. We all handle our emotions in our own ways.

I tend to clean, sort and go through 'stuff' that's needed done for a long time. Somehow the sense of accomplishment, gives me some sort of contentment. With that said... I feel for the garbage man lately!

It's late and there is still a lot to do before this weekends' event. So I shall say good night for now...

Endorsements ~

 Greetings and Salutations!

Happy Autumn ~ October is here! and the chill is on! Amazing how quickly temperatures dropped!

So - what do you think of the new 'backdrop' for Autumn.? We are available for 'Family or Individual' portrait sessions! If anyone is wanting to get pictures for Thanksgiving.

I've spent a lot of time lately looking at computer screens, printers and products; I didn't even realize how early it's getting dark out now too. I've also been getting up really early and getting started on the work, so I can be available during the day for appointments. I've noticed the morning chill. My horse is even starting to get her 'fuzzy coat', getting ready for winter.

Seems winters have been hitting us much harder lately. The last few years we've had snow, and freezing cold, wet temperatures. A lot of deliveries have been delayed; store shelves have gotten pretty barren, with some products not coming back at all. With that in mind, I've wanted to build up the product base, so I wouldn't have to worry about delays in orders as the holiday season gets started and things get busy everywhere!  So, I've been ordering all the 'blanks' for products that I suspect we will need between now and Christmas.

Speaking of Holidays - Can you believe 'Fred Meyer' has Christmas trees and decorations out already? How sad is that - really. I absolutely hate how they are rushing and pushing the holidays into nothing more than a consumer buying frenzie - month after month.

We need to PROTEST, boycott, DO whatever it takes - To STOP THIS SHIT.

DON'T DECORATE OR BUY ANY DECORATIONS

FOR ANY GIVEN HOLIDAY UNTIL NO MORE THAN 4 WEEKS BEFOREHAND.

 {Presents are a year round buying expenditure & exception}

Give us back our TIME to ENJOY EACH HOLIDAY, in it's own TIME.

We need to 'savor' the 'magic'!

Right now, we should be embracing the 'ghosts and goblins' and getting ready with big bowls of 'candy'! I miss the days of homemade 'popcorn balls' and 'carmel apples' and all the other delicious goodies we would get to bring home.

Do you want to capture that special costume this year? We have openings still in October ~ and I love the new HALLOWEEN 'backdrop'! and yes, that is my Sylvester getting in there doing a 'photo bomb', hey, at least he's mostly black, so he goes with the motif.

Now let's talk about the Holiday ~ SHOPPING

I've always been a 'catalog' shopper. As a child it was the 'Sears Christmas Catalog' that all of us kids would look forward to and drool over! As a mom with 4 kids in tow, Sears and JC Penney Catalogs and ordering over the phone, was my method of 'saving time' and my 'sanity'. I didn't have to worry about hauling all the kids to the stores after school or rushing during the day while they were at school. PLUS, when it came to 'presents' I could get special 'brown bag' wrapping so no one would know what was inside. Credit cards were always welcome too.

Now with 'technology' and the 'internet' and of course 'Amazon'... I do most of my shopping online. I absolutely love that I can 'grocery shop' online. I save so much money when I DON'T GO TO THE STORE.  {I have a personal goal of NOT spending money at least 1 day a week}. Not one penny! With the groceries I can stick to my list and my budget. I can rearrange and take things off if the numbers are getting higher than I want.... rather than walking around and putting things back on the shelves.

Now ~ I'm 59 and I have a few ailments. Doctor calls them disabilities. Walking can be painful on my foot and hips. Standing hurts my lower back. Carrying things, lifting them in and out of the car, then hauling them up the stairs... It creates a lot of pain for me.

Pain I can avoid by ordering online and waiting for deliveries.

So let's talk my FAVORITE SHOPS. As someone that has worked in Retail and Customer Service for over 30 years and as a mystery shopper and Customer Service evaluator ~ GOOD Customer Service is important to me. These stores got it going on!  Every once in a while there is a glitch in an order, And my stores, have always done a wonderful job of making it right.

Explore and Enjoy ~
Imagine all the gas I'm saving too!

When I do go shopping in person, I like to shop local at small business & attend local events and shop amongst the vendors. I like original and unique things. The outlet mall is probably the only 'big store' type place I like to shop at. Truth be told, it's probably because I'm already there all day at least one to two days a month, so it's convenient and a way to pass the slow time. I even do my Costco shopping online! rather than in person.

How do you like to shop? What is your favorite store? and why?
