Claustrophobia

 Claustrophobic...

That was the answer. {The kick in the ribs that made me unable to breathe, yesterday}
Its not something I can cure, just deal with or get over. There is no magic pill to make it go away.
Its something that has been a part of me all my life, I must learn to live with.
I don't know when a place is going to trigger it until it happens.
I honestly thought with so many windows it would be ok.
But when the door shut and the hours dragged on...
Im still recovering... shit like this, hits you in the back of the knees and knocks you down. Many people don't understand. Its paralyzing, like depression. Takes a few to get back up. Some folks stay down cant get up.
MENTAL CONDITIONS ARE REAL DISABILITIES.

Be kind to others, you really don't know what's going on inside.

Rescue for Profit?

Ok, I know 'to rescue a stray' can be a costly event. Medical treatment, getting vaccines current and restoring their overall health, can be time consuming and expensive. I know, I've rescued a couple horses.

BUT

Before I get into this let me state, I understand why the city shelters charge a SMALL fee to adopt a pet. They provide for many and have for many years. The fee doesn't come close to the cost. That's why we pay taxes that in part support the animal shelters. Those taxes allow them to keep the adoption fees low. So people can actually afford to adopt a pet.

But are people finding a way to profit off of suffering pets.....

I stopped by a shanty looking shelter event, 10 x 10 pop up, with healthy mid aged puppies. The claim they were brought up from Mexico. Cute puppies. We have so many strays and unwanted animals in our own country I don't understand why we'd ship them in from other countries?

THE COST $1200.00

With a claim they've had shots, been fixed and chipped.

I would have gladly given $120 to adopt a puppy, but $1200 had the words SCAM written all over it.

I'm looking to find another puppy companion since my service dog passed away last Christmas. I paid $800 for her 16 years ago. She was pure bred, met her parents, could see her blood lines.....first shots NO CHIP, that was left to be MY CHOICE as it should be.

I'm concerned at the over priced costs to 'adopt a rescue', I think people are getting pretty rich off of animals suffering. Something isn't right. People are seeing a way to profit over others that pity the poor suffering pets.

and the SMALL REHOMING FEES that have reached almost $1000 in some cases.

If you want an animal rescued and to a good home KEEP THE COSTS LOW AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK THAT IT'S A GOOD HOME, they wouldn't be living at your shelters for so many years and the cost wouldn't be so high. The costs are high because of too many pets coming in and not going out.
